Wokingham Borough Council selects Open Objects' Adult Social Care Hub
Cambridge, UK. - August 2009
Wokingham Borough Council Community Care Services and Housing has purchased Open Objects' Adult Social Care Hub as part of its Transformation Programme; Putting People First. Putting People First is about giving vulnerable adults who currently receive, or are eligible for, financial support from the Council, more choice and control over how their needs are met.
The Adult Social Care Hub is designed to address the challenges of the Transformation agenda by establishing a universal information point for advice and services available both locally and nationally and to provide a platform on which to meet the key objectives of Personalisation, Choice and Brokerage. The Hub provides Wokingham with an immediate win for the Social Care team and a strategic solution on which to build.
Matt Pope, Wokingham Borough Council’s Putting People First Project Manager says: "We need to get all information about services in one place with a user-friendly search and browse interface. The Hub will provide just that as an off the shelf solution and it comes with a unique data harvester that "pulls" information from local web sites and other resources in our area. There's also options for shopping baskets, user forums and Amazon type 'rate and review' functions"
Local Authorities are at very different stages in their transformation of adult social care however, many will follow Wokingham Borough Council’s lead by establishing the universal information point as part of their programme.
