Carers in Cornwall to have dedicated online Resource Hub from Open Objects

Over the past year Open Objects have been supporting local authorities to implement The Care Act 2014; co-producing innovative, self-serve products that seamlessly integrate with information and advice hubs.

As part of our exclusive partnership with FACE[1], one of our core developments has been a Care Act compliant online Self-Assessment for carers.

Through our work with Local Authorities in implementing the assessment tool, the conversation quickly broadened to identify the need for a more complete resource hub to support informal carers of all ages.

As Chris Evans, Health and Social Care Product Manager at Open Objects explains:-

“In planning for the Care Act and its implications around supporting carers, the conversation at many local authorities has been mainly focussed on how to resource the predicted significant increase in carers assessments from April 2015. Whilst the offer of an accessible online self-assessment for busy carers is imperative, for me, also being pro-active in supporting carers to access personalised information, advice and services quickly and easily is as important.

Our new Carer’s Hub is being designed and developed with this in mind – offering an effective and proportionate solution to support carers of all ages.”

We are really excited to announce that the first authority who we will be partnering with to roll-out the concept of the complete Carers Hub is Cornwall Council.

Stuart Cohen Commissioning Manager Carers Lead at Cornwall Council says:-

“Cornwall is committed to improving services for Carers and the Carers Hub is a key part of that improvement. Carers have told us they want better access to timely and accurate information. The Carers Hub is the tool that will assist Carers and professionals in the accessing and provision of information”.
