Barnet Council selects Open Objects' ISPP solution
Cambridge, UK. - September 2008
Barnet Council's Family Information Service has selected Open Objects' Family Community and Hub with its built-in ISPP data bridge to deliver multiple service directories to children, families and young people within the Borough.
The first directory has already gone live at BarnetBase.Net, a site aimed at young people which offers things to do, advice and guidance. This is soon to be followed by DirectMe, the main family and children's service directory for Barnet.
Importantly, Barnet's new family Hub incorporates Open Objects' ISPP data bridging software. This means that the Council will be able to meet the DCSF's requirements on interoperability with the upcoming Information System for Parents and Providers (ISPP) directly from the new Open Objects Hub. The built-in data exchange capabilities of the Hub will enable both Extended Childcare (ECD) and Family Service (FSD) uploads and downloads through a single shared platform.
The Open Objects ISPP data bridge includes data staging and quarantining facilities, so that Barnet's will be able to inspect and check incoming data packages from ISPP. Also outbound packages, which have been harvested from back office sources, such as Barnet's Early Years database, can be checked before committing onwards to Directgov. All ISPP data exchanges can be routed via the Hub which provides a single point of contact for the Council with ISPP, enabling easy archiving and maintenance of a full historical audit trail.
ISPP implies a greater degree of integration within the FIS sector than has been the norm to date. Barnet has been quick to realise the advantages of the integrated approach to information provision via a shared Hub.
