Disabled Children’s Register

Open Objects’ Disabled Children’s Register can be implemented as a standalone project or as a add-on to your existing Family Information Service website. This product provides a secure online area including a form backed by a customisable database which meets the obligation on all local authorities (Children’s Act 1989) to create and maintain a register.

Parents, guardians or carers obtain a login via automatic registration, and can securely submit the details of the disabled child or children in their care. They can revisit at any time to record any change in circumstances and or amend their register entry(s). In addition to receiving registration details, the register can be used to record eligibility for services such as Short Breaks. Moreover if embedded within the wider Family Services Directory and Aiming High website, the register can be placed in context with all types of advice, guidance and services available to families with disabled children. As an option, it can also automatically generate a ‘Care Passport’ – a portable document that can be used by parents or guardians to pass on essential information about their child to providers and avoid the need for constantly repeting themselves.

The administrator of the register has full control over access and moderation rights to ensure security and accuracy of the register. There is also access to creation and update histories, as well as reporting facilities to enable analysis of the data being held.
